Identify the adverb clause in the following sentence. Before automobiles came on the scene, people often used horses as transportation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, well a verb is an action. So an adverb is an add on, a helping word or an enhancer word. So let's think about this. The verb in the sentence is 'used' meaning that the adverb would be one of the following: horses often or transportation. As I said before, an adverb is an add on or enhancer word that better describes the way the action is done. Which of those three words describes the way the verb was done? (I'll give you a hint, the answer is NOT horses, lol)

oooh, woops ignore that i read the question wrong lol.

Basically, the adverb clause is a term or sentence that takes the place of an adverb OR enhances the meaning of an adverb. Hope that helps!
