How does having a fever help to fight bacterial infections? (Using knowledge of enzymes and protein folding)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

many infectious diseases need iron that's in the liver to grow and profiliate in the body. So the homeostatic response of the body releases enzymes from the pituitary gland i believe that drives the body's temperture up; using the iron from the liver and kidneys so the infectious diseases cannot. This is a good way to basically "starve" off an infection but too high of a fever isn't good and can lead to anemia. Hope this helps! Cheers! ^.^ Sophia
