Simplify (7t^2 + 9) + (6t^2 + 8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

group the variable terms together and the constants together :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok but what about the exponents? Do I add them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. Exponents are added only during multiplication . Here you just take them as a common factor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i.e. \[7t ^{2}+6t ^{2} = t ^{2}(7+6)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh ok! So it would be 13t^2 + 17?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what about (5x^3 + 2)(5x^3 -2) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first , yes 13t^2 + 17 and for the second , since it is multiplication , you add the powers of X :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 25^6 - 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. 25x^6 - 4 is right :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome ^_^
