Need help with 0 = 2x^2 − 3x + 0.5 This is what I already have: Multiply the entire equation by 2 to get rid of the decimals. 0 = 2x^2 - 3x + 0.5 *2 *2 *2 4x^2 - 6x + 1 = 0 There is no GCF besides 1, so the equation will stay the same. Factor by grouping: Multiply the first coefficient 4, by the last coefficient 1 4 * 1 = 4 Find the product of 4 and the sum of the middle term -6 But I can't find a product of 4 and a sum of -6. Have I done something wrong?
Your suppose to add the first and last number not multiply. 4+1=5 Find the numbers that equal -6 and that add up to 5. -6 and 1. When multiplied they equal -6 and when added they equal 5.
But -6 + 1 is equal to -5 not positive 5.
Unless it's -1 and -5 -1 * -5 = 5 and -1 + -5 = -6 Hmmm.
