need help medalls!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify \[(\frac{ -6 }{ 5 })*\frac{ 10 }{ 9 }\]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you might want to cancel out common factors top to bottom

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wdy mean?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you dont know what i mean by that, then you really need to read over your material again. I cant get any more fundamental than that.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spose we have 2 numbers p and q such that:\[p=ab;~q=ac\]\[\frac{p}{q}=\frac{ab}{ac}\]\[\frac{\cancel{a}b}{\cancel{a}c}=\frac bc\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I dont see any common factors like that in my problem

OpenStudy (amistre64):

6*10 = 2*3*2*5 --------------- 5*9 = 5*3*3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can rewrite it like this -6/9*10/5 then simplify the first term by 3, simplify the second term by 5so it becomes like this -2/3*2=-4/3
