Which system of inequalities is represented by the graph? y > -2 and y > 2x + 1 y > -2 and y < 2x + 1 y < -2 and y < 2x + 1 y < -2 and y > 2x + 1

@johnweldon1993 could you help me with this?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

absolutely :) Okay so we see it passes through the y axis at 1 correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

we see it has a positive slope...that goes up by 2 and over by 1....which means a slope of 2....so we have y=2x + 1 is one part....the other.....how do we make a horizontal line? we make a function = a number with no slope

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

so if it has no slope....and it goes through - 2...what will THAT function be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay would it be 2x?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

no...adding that x would mean it has a slope....it would be -2...because it passes through -2 and stays constant...no up...no down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i meant to put -2 ! lol

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

okay so our 2 equations are y = -2 and y=2x +1 now....what part of the graph is highlighted? lets look at y = -2 is the graph highlighted below that line...or above it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

below?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

|dw:1362797441099:dw| No....it is highlighted above all those squiggles lol are above the line....are all those squiggles where the highlight is?
