In APA, if writing several sentences of info that comes from one reference, do you cite at the end of each sentence or at the end of the last sentence?
Technically, you should never quote huge chunks of material. If I were you, I would make sure that I have only one sentence per quote with its individual citation, followed by an explanation of the quote and its relevance in your own words.
Thanks but there aren't any direct quotes in my paper. I would know how to cite properly if this were the case. Every sentence formulated is based on journal articles read. Sometimes I am able to glean multiple pieces from the se article. I cannot find how to properly cite this according to the APA manaul.
sorry - just saw your message. What do you mean they are all paraphrases?
Essentially what I have written is a lot of paraphrasing.
Can you not go back and quote? Still, you would cite it the same way. If it all comes from the same article, I believe that you should mention the author in the first sentence and put the citation after the last.
The professor has indicated he does bot like any direct quotes. I have done as you recommended and hope that is correct :). Thank you.
No problem! I hope it is correct too. I know that's how you handle it in MLA, but you were right; I didn't see anything in APA. You know, though, that even with paraphrase, you could insert explanations and connections that include only your ideas, breaking up the paraphrased material that way. I would seriously avoid clumping researched material together, and by the way, I have been an AP Literature teacher for eleven years and am now in grad school pursuing a Master's in gifted education and documenting everything in APA, so you can have some faith. 8) I really am not sure about the multiple paraphrases though.... I would hate to think that I misinformed you. I'm sure you would too! When is the paper due? And do you happen to know the answer to my question? Or even where to find that type of information? It's definitely not on this website.
I am sorry I do not know the answer to your question. I found this link ( http://techtips.salon.com/glossary-terms-digital-imaging-technology-10400.html) That I am sure you have already looked at the defines terms. Perhaps researching the origin of these terms will help you find the answer. My paper is due tomorrow. I am going to stick with it the way I have it because I cannot find any thing to substantiate making changes.
