help please ! will give a medal to the first person Tell the property used in each of the steps. One point each for each correct property. Steps Property 3 + 4(x + 1) Given = 3 + (4x + 4) A = (4x + 4) + 3 B = 4x + (4 + 3) C = 4x + 7 D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*ignore the one point each for each correct property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

will give a medal though

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So in step \(\large A\) the 4 was `distributed` to each term inside the brackets. Can you think of what property that might be? :) `Distributing` hmmmmmmm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure ? :/

zepdrix (zepdrix):

really....? -_- Distributive Property...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh hahaha i feel dumb lol i was thinking of that but i wasnt sure if it had something else or not

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Step B is a little trickier. They `rearranged` the order of the addition. You can do this based on the fact that addition can happen in any order you want. \(\large 2+3+5 \qquad = \qquad 5+2+3\) The numbers can `commute` ... Blah I can't think of a better way to say that lol It's the `Commutative Property`

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Step \(\large C\), the 4 is now `associating` with the 3 instead of the 4x. Can you think of what property this might be? c;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

associative property ?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

yayyyy

zepdrix (zepdrix):

I'm not sure what property that is in part \(\large D\). It's just addition being performed. I think it's called the `Additive Identity Property`. I better look that up to be sure though..

zepdrix (zepdrix):

No that's not right, that property involves adding 0 to something.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Yah I dunno, maybe it's just the `Addition` property or something :\

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its ok ill just put that :) thank you for everything :)
