I don't know which graph it would be - please help! Which of the following represents the graph of the function f(x) = log 3 x - 2 ?

I think with "log 3 x - 2", you mean \(\log_{3}(x) -2\). This would mean we are looking for a graph that is a log base 3 and then moved down 2 units. The "normal" \(\log_3(x)\) would go through (3, 1) and (9, 2), because \(\log_3(3)=1\) and \(\log_3(9)=2\). Because our graph has been moved down 2 units, we have to find a graph through (3, -1) and (9, 0). Looking at the somewhat blurry pictures ;), I'd go for nr 4.

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Here is the graph (including the graph of \(\log_3(x)\)). The red graph is the one you need.

3^(x-2)

thank you for that explanation @ZeHanz
