Can someone please help me. Harry is trying to solve the equation y = 2x2 − x − 6 using the quadratic formula. He has made an error in one of the steps below. Find the step where Harry went wrong. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Is the answer step 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Harry kind of fails. a = 2 b = -1 c = -6 1. x is the negative of -1 (ding) plus/minus the square root of -1^2 (ding) -4*2*-6 (ding), all over 2a (ding). No errors. Our real question is: What is -4*2*-6? It's 48. Which makes step 3 and 4. wrong, because they both came up with 47.

So step 3 is the correct answer then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea, thats what i got:)

ok thank you so much.
