Which of the following lines are parallel, and why? Picture attached. A. n || l; Consecutive Interior Angles Converse Theorem B. a || j; Consecutive Interior Angles Converse Theorem C. a || j; Alternate Exterior Angles Converse Theorem D. There are no parallel lines.

@RH Is this another problem you are doing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, is the correct answer on B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you for your time

Directrix (directrix):

Not B. Those two consecutive interior angles (same-side interior angles) are not supplementary. They sum to 85 + 85 = 170 which is 10 degrees short of 180 degrees. So, not B.

@RH

Hmmm ok. So is it A?

Directrix (directrix):

Everything in the diagram looks parallel but that is not what this is about. It is about the theorems. And, I see no theorem or postulate that supports that any of the shown lines are parallel. So, I choose: D. There are no parallel lines.

Directrix (directrix):

NOT B for this reason: Not B. Those two consecutive interior angles (same-side interior angles) are not supplementary. They sum to 85 + 85 = 170 which is 10 degrees short of 180 degrees. So, not B.

Oh ok thanks!!! I get it now
