Tory has two similar picture frames in her bathroom. The ratio of the larger picture frame to the smaller picture frame is 5:2. If the perimeter of the smaller picture frame is 30 in, what is the perimeter of the bigger picture frame?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If the ratio is 5:2, this means that EVERY length in the larger frame is 2.5 times bigger than the corresponding length in the smaller one. If you think about how the perimeter is defined, I think you will have a good idea how the perimeter of 30 can be converted to that of the larger one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would you do 30 divided by 2.5 to get the other perimeter? @ZeHanz

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait nvm times it by 2.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the perimeter of the bigger frame would be 30 times 2.5? which is 75?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

The larger frame has a larger perimeter :) So, because the perimeter is just the sum of a few lengths, where EACH length is 2.5 times bigger, the larger perimeter is also 2.5 times bigger, or 75 in.

Alright thank you appreciate it!(:
