There are alot of things you learn in schol that you will NEVER use in life unless you choose a specific career. The whole point of it is just so that you have options, but in my opinion all the specific things should be tought in colage to people who will realy know it.

As @stabar just said, you will use what you're currently learning later in your student life or in you career. But if you're wondering why, this maybe means that you're kind of desperate... If you find no motivation, no will to learn what you can learn today, you concentrate and think about what you'll be able to do after you got the diploma. Real liberty comes after hard days.

The actual information you learn is a minimal part of learning. School teaches you HOW to learn and then apply it. Life is about problem solving, school helps you to develop problem-solving skills. Even if you never have to specifically use literal algebra in your career, I guarantee you that you will be using the skills you learned in algebra to isolate variables (what you're trying to solve for) in daily life.

OpenStudy (dean.shyy):

Learning comes in two folds. First, it provides leisure insight into the subject. Second, it helps reinforce a career in the subject of concern. So, learning is based on either one of these.
