Is a perfect square still a perfect square if it has a decimal value? Example 36 or 36.5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36=6*6 making it a perfect square but 36.5 can only be approximated and won't be an exact value. However, a number like 2.25 is a perfect square because 1.5*1.5=2.25 so some decimals can be perfect squares.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

depends on the definition i think \(0.04\) is a perfect square because it is the square of \(0.2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about 144.29?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it would still be labeled as a positive integer, right?

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

no. integers are whole numbers. i.e numbers without decimal parts

oh okay
