11. Write an equation in standard form for the circle. (x – 3)2 + (y + 5)2 = 64 (x + 3)2 + (y + 5)2 = 64 (x – 3)2 + (y – 5)2 = 64 (x + 3)2 + (y – 5)2 = 64

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just looking at it the diameter is 16 so the radius is 8 the centre is (3, 5) and r = 8 substitute it into the general form of the equation that was used in the previous question you asked.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u lost me. what do I mean exactly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so (x-h)+(y-k)^2=r^2 (x-3)^2+(y-5)^2=8^29 (x-9)+(y-25)=64 <------ so this is my answer? @campbell_st

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

nope... you don't square the x and y values that come from the centre... its only the radius that is squared.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(x – 3)^2 + (y – 5)^2 = 64

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

yep... thats better

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u!
