Which of the following is a true statement about chloroplasts? A.They transport glucose into the cell. BThey convert light energy into chemical energy. CThey are present in animal cells, but not in plant cells. DThey convert the energy in glucose into a more usable form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

these are all true hope it helps :) They have membranous sacs called thylakoids that are surrounded by a fluid called stroma. They are the sites of reactions that convert solar energy into chemical energy. They have three compartments: the intermembrane space, the stroma, and the thylakoid space. They contain chloroplast DNA and synthesize some of their own proteins. but i think D would be your answer

ok thank bud

OpenStudy (anonymous):

was it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks that helped alot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer would be B.

@somebodys_heartbrake I'd like to tell you a little more about cells, since you seem to be confused about what's going on in a cell. Plants convert energy from sunlight into chemical energy. This process is called photosynthesis. During photosynthesis, plant cells use the energy from light to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) into glucose and oxygen (O2). This happens in the plant's chloroplast. Mitochondria then use oxygen (O2) to convert broken-down glucose products (the chemical energy from photosynthesis) into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). This process is called cellular respiration. So, basically the plant's chloroplast converts sunlight into chemical energy which is then taken to the Mitochondria that converts the chemical energy into ATP that fuels the chemical reactions that take place within cells.
