Why might there be more dissolved oxygen in a lake in Vermont than in a similar sized lake in Florida in summer? The sandy bottoms of Florida lakes absorb dissolved oxygen better than the rocks in Vermont. The cooler water in a Vermont lake would be able to hold more dissolved oxygen. Water evaporates more slowly from Vermont lakes, leaving more dissolved oxygen in them. More rain falls in Florida in summer, diluting the dissolved oxygen in the lake.
