this is as far as i have gotten..i know i add the first and last numbers together 46+123=189
OpenStudy (anonymous):
then do i see if anymore add up to 189
OpenStudy (anonymous):
there is a formula for this where the addition of all the numbers are \[S _{n}\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
give me a sec to remember it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
im trying to understand the directions and its just not clicking to me.

\[S _{n} = (n/2)(2a + (n-1)d)\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh lord i have no idea lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Therefore \[S _{123} - S _{45}\]
Will give you your answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
you've never seen that formulae? Have you ever done the topics Arithmetic Progression (AP) or GP?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the examples ive been going by doesnt show that. nope i havent gotten that far lol

lol ok ill see if i can tone it down a bit haha XD
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ive passed all my other math classes with good grades but this math class i gotta feeling im not gonna do well at all
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but i dont believe i was ever taught any other different method :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
u can teach u the formulae and u canjust use it and hope for the best? :P
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Its the Gauss method.. i know its something like if you turned it around like 123+...49+48+47 etc it would be the same

ill see if i can get someone who knows the method, sry but that isnt on my syllabus
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh oh ok so when i stack them i find that when i add them i get 169 over
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i ment stack like adding them..but on the second line I am going backwards..like..
123+122+121+120...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
still sounds very tedious
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is the answer 8450?

the way i understood it from my text that is if you turn it around and added the numbers together (but descending order) you would get the same answer across..thats how I got 169. then you halfed that by dividing by 2 and thats how I got 8450. but its to damn confusing for me
OpenStudy (anonymous):
6591? dont ask me how i got it..dont ask me to show you lolol cause i have nooooo clue lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ill work it out now
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The answer is 6591, so yes, u r correct :)
