If you lift an object that weighs 13 pounds through a distance of 3 feet, you have done -- foot-pounds of work.

To find the solution to this you would divide the feet by the weight. The equation work= distance/weight, would suffice in this case So 3/13 would be your answer, its a long decimal number but I'll round it off to 0.23.

Work = Force x Distance In this case your force is 13lb and distance is 3ft so you do 39ft-lb of work. Now if you want this in Joules, you can convert 13lb into 173.480643 newtons and 3ft to 0.9144 meters. Now multiplying you get 158.6307 newton-meters (Joules).
