OpenStudy (anonymous):

do know what a ratio is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok A ratio is simply a comparison between two numbers, or a relationship between two quantities. Ratios can be expressed in several ways: fraction, decimal, percent, or written with ":" or "to".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's use an example to showcase the different forms: Suppose there are 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3:1 (3 boys for every 1 girl) 3/4 are boys, 1/4 are girls 0.75 are boys (divide 3 by 4) 75% are boys (change 0.75 to a percent)

u can write ratios in these forms (above)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When writing ratios, be sure to use the proper order: If you write a fraction, the numerator is the quantity you are interested in, and the denominator is the total number of items. This fraction can then be changed to a decimal or a percent. If you write a comparison, you only use the number of each items, not the total number.
