Which of the following was one of the results of the U.S. occupation of Japan following World War II? A. Japan's economy was quickly rebuilt. B. Japan became allies with China and Russia C. Japan's economy became more agricultural D. Japan became politically unstable
Japan became politically unstable
I'm not so sure on that one. Japan's government was largely under the control of the US occupation under MacArthur who retained much of its administrative infrastructure to manage things. Its supply and mercantile infrastructure, on the other hand, were pretty unstable. But the most direct result of the US Occupation given the answers above would probably be more (A) than anything else. The US wanted Japan to become a pro-Western ally in the Pacific contributing to Truman's policy of containment and to do that, they needed it back on its feet as quickly as possible. By setting up the foundation for its industries and businesses and leaving a strong framework of governance in place, Japan quickly rose up from the ashes. Decades later, it became the world's second largest economy (until it was surpassed by China -- the US is still far and beyond at #1).
So if it is not politically unstable then what would teh answer be? Now i wanna know lol. @captain_page_turner
True @captain_page_turner because a few years after those atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, they hosted a Summer Olympics in Tokyo (1964).
