OpenStudy (hexagon001):
8x-9
OpenStudy (abb0t):
distribute the negative sign first.
OpenStudy (abb0t):
@hexagon001 I think it's best if you guide them towards the correct answer rather than just giving it to them. That way, they learn the material.
OpenStudy (hexagon001):
sorry

yes i want to know how to get it thx @hexagon001 but plz explain
OpenStudy (abb0t):
Start by distributing the negative sign in the parenthesis, @skburton0413
OpenStudy (abb0t):
Are you being asked to solve for "x" ?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
just simplify
OpenStudy (abb0t):
Yes. Then distribute the negative sign would be your first step. You should get: \[9x-x+9\]

ohhh
OpenStudy (hexagon001):
ok here goes so.. distribute the minus sign with what is inside the brackets..
for example
-(-x+1)=--x +-1=x-1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol i get how you guys received the answer
OpenStudy (abb0t):
Then, you would combine like terms.
x is the same thing as saying 1x.
except you don't usually put it. But there is a one in front.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes
