If you could select one event in history to teach a lesson from (as in look what happened when... so don't let it happen again) what would it be? Explain why. Then look at the outcome of that event. What good and bad came from that in the bigger picture?
@Opcode i was told yo ask you this but if you dont know then its alright
I would personally chose the holocaust. well due to the fact of one man anger and hatred brought him to power and ended up killing millions of people from one ethnic group is absurd. this teaches the lesson that yes some may be good leaders of a nation but you also have too look into the details of the person. yes Hitler was a good leader and brought back Germany into their prime but just of a little hatred and propaganda and scapegoat spread across the people sent of to millions being killed for no good reason.
The Salem Witch Trials. Our system of judgement was upside-down with the belief that one is guilty until proven innocent, which means no evidence is even needed to give someone the death penalty. More than that, it showed how paranoia can block out logic, and justice along with it. We did learn to judge passed on innocent until proven guilty. I wish we didn't have to learn this over and over, but seeing as we still allow our fear to consume reason (The Crucible's expression on phobia of communism, US arresting terrorist suspects and getting info through coercion), I would say we should look at this event again.
