Factor by grouping. 18b^2+25b-3

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Why? Anyway... 18b^2 + 25b - 3 = 18b^2 - 2b + 27b - 3 Now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[18b^2+25b-3\]multiply \(18\) and \(-3\) and see which factors add up to \(25\) in this case the 2 factors that work are \(27\) and \(-2\) write the middle term, \(25b\) split up as \(27b-2b\) \[18b^2+27b-2b-3\]group these (add parenthesis):\[(18b^2+27b)-(2b+3)\]factor out the GCF:\[9b(2b+3)-1(2b+3)\]rearrange that and write:\[(9b-1)(2b+3)\]tada! :D

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

I'm a little delighted that we did it differently.
