OpenStudy (aripotta):

can someone remind me how to do this?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(2\sqrt3 -1)(3\sqrt3 -2)\] multiply as \[(a+b)(c+d)=ac+ad+bc+bd\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get \[2\sqrt{3}\times 3\sqrt{3}-2\sqrt{3}\times 2-1\times 3\sqrt3-1\times (-2)\]

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i know about the foil thingy, i just forgot how to multiply numbers and radicals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first number is \(2\times 3\times 3=18\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then \(-4\sqrt{3}-3\sqrt{3}=-7\sqrt{3}\) and \(-1\times (-2)=2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so when you are done you get \(20-7\sqrt3\)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so when you multiply 2 radicals, you multiply the numbers inside, right?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

so sqrt3 times sqrt3 would be sqrt9, which is 3??
