Please help! :( The coordinates of the midpoints of the sides of a triangle are A(0, 1), B(4, 0), and C(2, –2). Find the coordinates of the vertices of the triangle. Hint: You should plot out this problem using graph paper! A. (–2, 1); (2, 3); (6, –2) B. (–2, –1); (–2, 3); (5, –3) C. (–2, –2); (0, 3); (0, –1) D. (–2, –1); (2, 3); (6, –3)

all i know is trial and error using the midpoint formula on each choices ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@syhna you suggest trying every choice?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you dont really have to make an effort, you'll see it through the coordinates

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look, for example if you'll examine letter A , the y coordinate of one of its midpoint should be 2... there's no positive 2 y coordinate in the given midpoints

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have plotted the points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@syhna

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what points are those? the midpoints?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The points that are given to plot, what should I do now? :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try this.. you are using a graphing paper right? try to double the length of the sides...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh no i dont think that'll work sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@syhna :( oh ok then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the answer is d.. i guess... wait ill think of a possible solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@syhna thank you so much anyway for your time and participation! it means a lot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the midpoint formula is (x + xsub1) / 2 and (y + ysub1)/2 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

T.T i cant think of anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@syhna Don't worry about it! No problem! Thanks a lot for trying :)
