Choose the point which is a solution to the system of inequalities: y <= –2x + 3 y < 1/2x – 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(4,-6) (-4,6) (4,6) (-4,-6) i thought it was the last one, but i got it wrong..? So which would it be?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Maybe this drawing will give you an idea. Mark the difference between the lines (one has dashes...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i had graphed it! that's how i got (-4, -6) but i don't know which ones the answer.

OpenStudy (zehanz):

(-4, -6) is wrong, because it is ON the dashed line. That line doesn't belong to the solution...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh, so would the answer be B. because it's inside the shaded area?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

The right answer should be in the doubly shaded area...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ahh, well obviously since it's not d, would A work? yeah right? cause it's <=.

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Yes, it's A, because there the line does belong to the solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh, okay. so the solution is always the one in the double shaded area then?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

Yes, because then both inequalities are satisfied.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okayy, thanks so muchh(:

OpenStudy (zehanz):

YW!
