What is the equation, in standard form, of a parabola that models the values in the table? x -2 0 4 f(x) -7 3 -73 A. y = -3x^2 - 3x + 4 B. y = 4x^2 + 3x - 3 C. y = -4x^2 - 3x + 3 D. y = -3x^2 - 4x + 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The parabola has to open down so answer B is out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The y-intercept is 3, so A is out

you got a 50/50 chance; just pick one. Lol, no the answer is C.

@cblrtopas Don't tell them the answer, help them!!

lol thats what i was going to guess. and math makes me cry so id rather just have the answer ok lol .-.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, x=0; f(x)=3 means that the graph of f(x) crosses the line x=0 at y=3 (the y-intercept). Also the values of f(x) are negative to positive to negative suggesting that the function opens down and goes to negative infinity as x goes to +- infinity. That limits the answer to C and D. I just plugged in a value for either function and C gave the right answer.

this erdog is hounding me (pun intended)
