how do you factor 3x^2+xy-2y^2

OpenStudy (raden):

think of the factors of 3x^2 = 3x * x (3x .... )(x ..... ) then try to get the factors of 2y^2 = 2y * y (3x ? 2y)(x ? y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you! :)

OpenStudy (raden):

now, u have to give the sign each term, they can (-) (+) or (+)(-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so if the first one is positive and the second negative it would be 3x^2-3xy+2xy-2y^2

OpenStudy (raden):

if these the correct sign , (3x - 2y)(x + y) recheck again, has to satisfies |dw:1365047816201:dw|
