*come and get A easy medals* *And fan reward* What would be the function rule. x= –2 –1 0 1 2 y= 9 4 –1 –6 –11

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

FOund it :)

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

y = -5x - 1

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

You can verify this, for example: x=-2: then y = -5(-2) - 1 = 9 ... you can check it with the other values too

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

It's a bit of "trial and error" but the best trick was to concentrate on x = -2, 2 and 0 Like that you see that there's a change of sign for y for x=-2 and 2, since x = 2 => y= -11 x = -2 => y = 9 (we notice a change in sign, and the number gets bigger, which makes you think that there might be a multiplication or an exponent involved) x = 0 => y = -1 you might guess there's obviously some subtraction ("-1") involved, but you can remember that multiplication with 0 is just 0, which would be consistent with the results above.
