12(x-5)-7=18x-103

OpenStudy (jack1):

solve for x, yeah?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried everything. I distribute and all but after i get this 12x60-7=18x-103

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i Meant 12x-60-7=18x-103

OpenStudy (jack1):

12x - 60 - 7 = 18x - 103

OpenStudy (jack1):

-6x - 67 = -103

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (jack1):

-6x = -36 6x = 30 x = 36/6 = 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are moving to which side left or right

OpenStudy (jack1):

i moved all of my x's to the left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you change the signs

OpenStudy (jack1):

and all of my intergers to the right

OpenStudy (jack1):

change sign by multiply both sides by -1

OpenStudy (jack1):

so you started right, first multiply out the brachets so all thats left is pluses and minuses

OpenStudy (jack1):

then move all of the x values to one side

OpenStudy (jack1):

then move all of the whole numbers to the other side

OpenStudy (jack1):

then divide both sides by whatever's in front of the x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12(x-5)-7=18x-103 12x-60-7=18x-103 12x-67=18x-103 6x-67=-103 +67 +67 6x=36 36/6 =6 x=6

OpenStudy (jack1):

in your working yo didnt show that you've x both sides by -1 after you added the 67 to each side, so i know u know what your doing, but its always good to write down that step and show working in an exam situation and otherwise just so it's easier to follow and check errors, but other than that the above is perfect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but I can write it here.
