what's wrong with my answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have all the variables. Start by writing down what you have in place of the variables in the equation. As such: lateral area = 2prh (let's just say pi = p for simplicity) base area = 2pr Then you have lateral + base = 3000 with h = 50: 2prh + 2pr = 2pr(h + 1) = 102pr = 3000 So there's only one variable you don't know (r): r = 3000/102p = 9.36 You got 9.3 which technically should be rounded to 9.4 but I don't see how that's wrong.

i followed this formula from the book http://prntscr.com/zalc2

but my teacher says to still view this something is missing

hartnn (hartnn):

base area is pi r^2 not 2pi r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought something was fishy there...

hartnn (hartnn):

2pi r h + pi r^2 = 3000

hartnn (hartnn):

and h=50 now find r

hartnn (hartnn):

sorry for late reply :\
