hey guys I am trying to find the area of a complex shape

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yep .We can help .can you post the shape?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know I have to times the shaped part not including the triangle but the what do I do next

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.first find the area of the circle using the formula 2. find the area of the triangle. 3.subtract the area of the triangle from the circle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so did I do the first part right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and how do I find the area of the triangle

OpenStudy (amistre64):

considering a triangle is half a rectangle .... you might want to divide that in half ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so I multiplied 7cm, 9cm, and 12cm and got 756cm so now I multiply 12cm and 9cm and then what ever that is cut that in half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are using @amistre64 method. then the area of a rectangle is length*breadth. but in your question only the length is given(12) and not the breadth.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

9 is the "breadth"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I don't cut the answer in half (12*9)
