Write an equation in point-slope form, y – y1 = m(x – x1), of the line through points (4, –4) and (1, 2). Use (4, –4) as the point (x1, y1).

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Use the two points to calculate the slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i do that?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You cannot me give a problem statement to use the "Point-Slope" form unless you have been introduced to the idea of slope. \(Slope = \dfrac{Change\;in\;y}{Change\;in\;x}\). Do it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope would be -2 so the answer would be (y + 4) = –2(x – 4) thank you!

OpenStudy (angela210793):

where (4;-4) are (x1;y1) and (1;2) are (x2;y2) do u understand it now? |dw:1365276517057:dw|
