i do not fully know how to multiply square roots and exponents. would some one like to explain how this would be distributed ? ( -2k +4√(5k^2) ) * 4√(5k^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

( -2k +4√(5k^2) ) * 4√(5k^2) is as nice as i can get it to look :)

what is funny ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks or the medal :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know part of it would work out to be 16*5k^2. it is the -2k * 4√(5k^2) i at a loss with

ok. this did not work out then. this came from another question about simplifying . the answer posted was meant to remove the radical from the denominator. the poster of the answer explained that they did not distribute the denominator . this was my attempt at that task . perhaps you have a more clear explanation of how this type of simplification works. here is the original: how does this: -3 +5√(2k) ------------------- -2k +4√(5k^2) simplify to this: -3 -6√(5) +5√(2k) +10√(10k) ------------------------------------- 38k and here is the original posted question: http://openstudy.com/users/ibew#/updates/5161af6fe4b0c2e4606fe410 thanks :)
