Write y = 3x as a logarithmic function. Is it x = log3^y?

OpenStudy (klimenkov):

Do you mean \(y=3^x\) ?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

log y=log3x log y=log x +log 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah I meant \[y = 3^{x}\] sorry didn't type it right.

OpenStudy (klimenkov):

If it is so, then use the identity: \(\log_aa^b=b\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I don't just turn \[b ^{y} = x\] into \[y = logb ^{x}\]? Then... I really don't know how I'm supposed to write it.

OpenStudy (klimenkov):

\(x=\log_3y\).

oh thanks
