Linnaeus's hierarchical system of classification includes seven levels. What is each of these levels referred to as?
1. Kingdom 2. Phylum 3. Class 4. Order 5. Family 6. Genius 7. Species
Each of the levels is called a "taxon."
you are certainly wrong In Your head.
The real answer with 100% sureness is "(smallest to largest)- species, genus, family, order, class, phylum, and kingdom."
@Blaze That's the order of taxons you're right about that. Each of the levels has a distinct name, as you've correctly listed. However, the question isn't asking us to name each of the levels. The question is asking us what each of the levels is "referred to as." In other words, it's asking for a general name, for each of the levels. This is a multiple choice question that I've seen before. And out of the choices, "taxon" is one of them. ~~~~~~~~~ This is where I've seen the question before: http://www.weegy.com/?ConversationId=E9F77AE0 And this powerpoint gives us the answer. Just look at the first slide of page (3 of 12). http://teachersites.schoolworld.com/webpages/bertolotti/files/chapter%2018%20lecture-%20student%20handout.pdf
@InYourHead THE QUESTION CERTAINLY ASKS NAME OF THESE 7 LEVELS.. ANYWAY ARE SURE ABOUT WHAT YOU SAID?
Yes, I'm sure. Did you look at the links that I posted? The first link that I posted shows this same exact question, with three different choices. None of those choices lists every one of the seven taxonomic levels. "Taxon" is one of the choices. The second link that I posted has a powerpoint slide that rephrases the question, and gives us the answer. It's the third bullet point, on the first slide, on page (3 of 12). It's "taxon."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxon @InYourHead LOOK AND UNDERSTAND . IT CAN BE ALSO CLASS see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_%28biology%29
The article that you posted tells us that Class is specific taxon. That means that it is only one type of taxon. The word "taxon" applies, in a general sense, to all of the levels. Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species, they are all taxons. "Class" is only one of them. It is only one specific of taxon.
@blaze the question is asking what is each leveld called not the names of the level what is each level called your wrong in your head for not reading the question correctly.
@inyourhead is correct . Your wrong @blaze
