Find the GCF of 12x3y and 32x2y9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 12 and 32 getting multiplied or is that a x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is a x

Find the GCF of 12x^3y and 32x^2y^9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think the GCF is 3 for the first one, and you divide both by 3 to get 4x^y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And the GCF for the 2nd one is 2, you divide 32x by 2 giving you 16x^y, the 9 stays the same

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, 16x^y^9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, there is only supposed to be one GCF. not 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'll come back to you if I have an answer for the 2nd one, it seems a bit harder, I doubt the GCF is 1
