If m varies directly as p, and m = 48 when p = 8, find m when p is 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the m = 24 cause if they vary directly and p is halved then m is also halved

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i show work for it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have another that is the same and i do not understand these types this is the other: if x varies inversely as y^2 and x=6 when y=10, find x when y=2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let m(proportional) tp, where t is any number according to your problem just find (t) by making m=tp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example if m=48 then p=8 this shows that t=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

could you draw it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1365655400105:dw| write this to show that they r directly perportional, and explain with words that since p=4 is half of p=8 then when p=4 this mean m=48 is halved to get m=24
