Which of the following was a goal of the North Africa Offensive?
to prevent the Axis powers from establishing full control of the Mediterranean region to draw Hitler's army to Africa so Western Europe could be invaded to force Mussolini to remain in Africa where his troops could not aid Hitler's to re-establish Italian control of its former colonies in North Africa
I'd say that the main reason was to prevent Axis powers from establishing full control of the Mediterranean region.
thank you so much. can you help me with a couple more? :(
Sure, I have a bit of time. Go for it! :)
What was the purpose of D-Day? to launch a surprise invasion of Europe from southern Italy to encourage the Soviet Union to continue fighting on the Eastern Front to reclaim Western Europe first before attempting to move Allied troops into Germany to establish a stronghold on Germany's northern coast
Tricky question, but based on the answers here, it was to reclaim Western Europe first before attempting to move Allied troops into Germany. Mostly it was to open a second front to split German forces so they would end up fighting the Western Allies and the Soviet Union all at once.
Thank you so much. would you mind helping me with one more? :')
Glad to help! Go ahead and ask away. :)
What was the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad? It prevented Germany from successfully gaining control of Moscow. It led to Germany's capture of the Red Army in 1943. It forced the Soviet Union to reconsider its commitment to the Allied cause. It slowed down the Russian invasion of German territory begun in 1941.
I've seen this question before on here and none of the answers are really any good. The only answer that seems to work is that it prevented Germany from successfully gaining control of Moscow, though that's not really true...the Battle of Moscow ended a year or so before Stalingrad took place. But it's the only one that fits. Germany didn't capture the Red Army in 1943. It was a huge victory for the Soviets, so it didn't figure into what they thought about the Allies (they still needed them). And it certainly didn't slow down the Russian invasion of German territory (that would occur in 1945).
I havent really used this website before, but it is such a help. You're so smart! Are you a teacher or something? ahah!
WW2 is something of a hobby of mine so I know quite a bit about it. :)
What event shook the United States from its non-interventionist foreign policy and directly involved it in World War II? the destruction caused during the Battle of Britain Japanese aggression in China and Southeast Asia Japanese bombing of the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor the death of President Roosevelt and the elevation of Truman this is the last one i have, if you dont mind! i promise ;')
That's definitely Pearl Harbor -- before that happened, US isolationists kept arguing that we had no business in helping Europe or anyone else. Even Lindberg was arguing for isolationism.
i got 40/40.. if i were as smart as you.. i would probably finish this class within 30 minutes.
i do flvs.
Haha, glad I could help out. I read a lot on WW2, so those questions are what I'm usually good at on here. But welcome to OpenStudy!

I'm sure you'll do just fine! If you post questions on here, someone is bound to help out. Or if that doesn't work, Google it. :)
I see you actually answer a whole bunch of questions! all over open study!
do i just close the open question to ask another one?
Yep, when you're done with a question and are happy with the answers, go ahead and give a medal to the person who helped out the most and close it and then start a new one.
how do you give a medal?
There you go! Just click on "Best Response" and that's all there is to it. I'll give you one, too, for trying it out.
