\(sin \theta=\frac{opposite}{hypoteneuse}\) \(cos\theta=\frac{adjacent}{hypoteneuse}\) \(tan\theta=\frac{opposite}{adjacent}\) So to find the angle to a given right angled triangle problem we employ one of these equation to find the unknown. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1365731914869:dw|For example in this diagram, if I wanted to find the side x and I new the angle a and the length of the hypoteneuse, what formula do you think I would use?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a2 + b2 = c2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok that is Pythagoras' Theorem which is useful if you know the lengths of the 2 other sides, but let's pretend that we only know an angle and a length and we want to find another length. For example|dw:1365732154294:dw|If we know that the hypoteneuse is 10 and the angle of a is 30 degrees we must use one of the formula above. Does that make sense?
