what is a compound inequality ? 10p -2 < 10p +9 and 9p +19 > 8p +12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A compound inequality is an equation with two or more inequalities joined together with either "and" or "or" (for example, and ; or ). When two inequalities are joined with and, they are often written simply as a double inequality, like: . The solution of an "and" inequality is the intersection of each individual inequality in the sentence. To find the intersection, determine where the two graphs of the sentence overlap. The solution of an "or"inequality is the union of each individual inequality in the sentence. In an "or" inequality, solve the two inequalities separately and combine the solutions together.

ok and = solve together or = combine the solutions. i need to learn about graphing it seems. thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i do not even know how to solve two inequalities . one is easy enough. two equalities , i can solve. graphing, i only know to give 0 to x and find y , then give 0 to y and find x.

i will come back to this when i learn more :) thanks
