WHICH BEST DESCRIBES THE X- COORDINATE OF AN ORDERED PAIR? A. The x coordinate is the first number in an ordered pair. And it tells how far to move along the horizontal axis. B. The x coordinate is the last number in an ordered, and tells how far to move along the horizontal axis C. The x coordinate is the first number in an ordered pair, and tells how far to move along the vertical axis D. The x coordinate is the last number in an ordered pair an tells how far to move along the vertical axis
We know that the x-coordinate is the first number in the ordered pair so that narrows the field of options. So, of these two descriptions about the x-coordinate movement, which is correct? Get on a sheet of paper and plot some points. This: tells how far to move along the horizontal axis or tells how far to move along the vertical axis @gjvbreiubfdsuvbqewjbg
im thinking a
I tend to agree that a is the answer but am thinking about lattitude and longitude. Lattitude "runs" horizontal but measures vertical distance. Or, does it?
you are correct
But, after reading this: "The horizontal value in a pair of coordinates. How far along the point is. Always written first in an ordered pair of coordinates (x,y), such as (12,5). -------- >>you are correct That is on a sphere and we are on a plane, if that makes any difference.
I plotted points (2,3) and (4,3) and looked at them. I'm going with A) the horizontal distance option. @gjvbreiubfdsuvbqewjbg
