You don't. The perimeter is completely different.
The AREA of something is the space it covers. You need to know AREA to paint a wall or lay a rug.
The PERIMETER is the line that surrounds the area. Like a sidewalk going around the edge of a park.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes but I need to find the perimeter, and I dont know how to do it. Can you explain step by step how can I get the perimeter
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I told you that previously, and I'll repeat it here. For your shape:
PERIMETER = SIDE1 + SIDE2 + SIDE3 + SIDE4
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So 51?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Is that right

You have 4 sides.
The 2 short sides are the same length.
The 2 long sides are the same length.
Therefore, their sum can't be an odd number
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Omg, I still getting 51
OpenStudy (anonymous):
How can you POSSIBLY be getting 51?
What numbers are you adding?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
18 18 6 6 and 3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3 isn't on the edge.
3 is the height.
Only add the EDGES together.
