SOLUTION: OpenStudy is laggy and goes offline a lot because of all the information it has to load. I know OpenStudy saves almost all the items posted. It uses a memory system which is laggy and ineffective. I suggest something else. Instead of saving every thread posted, make the threads get caught in a cache. Much like 4Chan threads.
If the thread is inactive for 24 hours it just deletes itself. Now - I know what you're saying, "Compassionate, what about threads people make they want to keep and tutorials?" Well, simple solution. If you DO NOT want the thread deleted, you click a button. This button archives the thread and saves it from deletion, much like 4Chan. This way, all threads get cache and not saved(unless you click the archive button.) This is also a more effective method, as spam threads, troll threads, and off-topic threads that just take up space will get auto-deleted. It not only saves mods and admins times, but helps the site perform better.
People should be able to ask only a certent number of questions a day..it could make it less laggy
The scripts make it laggy. whats the point of having a script checking the smartscore ever second ? The site is much too AJAX dependent. + they should just upgrade their servers.
But I do like your idea.
I say to have a favorite button to save all the threads you like?
That would increase the script count...we do not need an increase but instead a decrease @some_someone
Kegan, you're wrong.
Explain? Everytime i have ever had to add a script it murdered the connection.
Good ideas. I will send them over to the IT team. @avsethu
