what are prime factors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for example i want to find prime factor of 250

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you would have to use the tree diagram....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

250=2*5*5*5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about \(2\) or \(5\)? Prime factors are just numbers with two divisors: \(1\) and themselves! You can express any number as a product of powers of their prime factors, e.g. \(250=2\times5^3\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh....you are right! that is the answer....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if you want to simplify that you would get 250=2 x 5^3
