x^2/a^2 + y^2/b^2 = 1
where a = half the length of the horizontal axis and
b = half the length of the vertical axis
OpenStudy (anonymous):
what option would that be I posted the options in a pic
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
Since the major axis is horizontal and measures 10, a = 5.
Since the minor axis is vertical and measures 8, b = 4
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
x^2/a^2 + y^2/b^2 = 1
x^2/5^2 + y^2/4^2 = 1
Does this help?
OpenStudy (mathstudent55):
What is 5^2 and what is 4^2?
