PLEASE HELP ME! Interest for a principal of $2000 at 3% for 18 months I= p r t I= 2000 x .03 x .6 = $36 IS THIS RIGHT?!

I got 90...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@yaytay im having trouble turning the 18 months into a decimal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You do 2000 x .03 x 18/12. Since there are 12 months in a year you put 18 over 12. If it was one year, then it would be 12/12 which is 1. So if you do that, you get 90

If you want to double check your answer when doing simple equations. Just google interest calculator, and then you can input your information to find the answer.

Thank you so much but how do i multiply a fraction with those?! @yaytay (i really appreciate your help!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome! Just type in your calculator 2000x.03x18/12. You can use the division sign as the fraction.
