hello!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2. What is the sum of ?

mathslover (mathslover):

@specialistt the first step is to take LCM . can you take LCM of 2b and 2 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does lcm mean? \

mathslover (mathslover):

Lowest common multiple.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope dont know how to.

mathslover (mathslover):

like : 8 = 2 * 2 * 2 and 9 = 3*3 so LCM of 8 and 9 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 3 * 3 = 72.

mathslover (mathslover):

hmn let us take anotheer example : write 5 multiples of 9 and 8 . @specialistt

OpenStudy (strawberry17):

You would make equal denominators. Since the second fraction needs a b in the denominator, you would multiply its numerator and denominator by b. You would get: 1 b^2 -- + --- 2b 2b Then you can just add the numerators to get the sum of both fractions. 1 + b^2 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be B^2+1 ------ 2b

OpenStudy (strawberry17):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!

OpenStudy (strawberry17):

ur welcome :)
