How did the Great Migration affect life for African Americans in many industrial cities

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

African Americans moved to more larger cities in the North. They migrated to larger cities to obtain jobs in factories and big industries. Moving into larger cities meant that they would have a greater opportunity to better futures and a better chance into getting a job. Many faced discrimination though and a lot of them were not able to get jobs because of the color of there skin. They were sperated from the white citizens and forced to go to all black schools. Though they did find a better lifestyle in the North. In the larger cities African Americans had a growing political vote. In these towns there also existed black middle and upper classes (which was a huge thing considering how they were treated). African American ministers, physicians, lawyers, teachers, and journalists practiced their professions and served as role models to the younger generation (which also was a big thing. They were usually seen as bad examples to the white population). On average they were forced to live in the worst housing and labor in the lowest paying jobs. The more black population tht migrated in the cities the more the white population accepted them. Srry for writing so much, I learned about this not to long ago :)
